Bara Bhangal is one of the hardest and most thrilling treks in Himachal Pradesh. Trek across the beautiful Dhauladhar range into the Pir Panjal range of lower Himalaya to the remote & lovely village of Bara Bhangal home of Himalayan shepherds. Over craggy passes, pass icy glaciers and ancient monasteries. The Dhauladhar range divides the Kangra and Kullu valleys of Himachal Pradesh. To the north lie Lahoul and Spiti, which have a fantastic range of snow peaks- a mountaineer’s paradise.
This trek is one of the most enchanting and picturesque, leading from the Kullu valley to scenic Kangra valley over the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas A high altitude trek, anyone reasonably fit will find it an almost dreamlike experience. Each day presents a different and startlingly beautiful landscape all lavishly decorated, a trek that leaves one with wonderful awesome of the Himalayan regions. The Trek terminates at Bir near Dharamsala: the mini Lhasa in India which is the seat of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It is a demanding and challenging trek into the Bara-Bhangal region, which remains cut off from the World by 4500- 4700m high passes, and still, very few trekkers find their way here.

Day 1:

Arrive at Bir. You be met by our team member who’ll take you to the Hotel. After lunch, you can occupy yourself with Local sighseeing. It is a natural divide between the valley of Bir and the mountains of Dholadhar. It attracts tourists with lovely views and fresh snow. Here you will be able to relish journey activities such as Paragliding a waterfall tour during the evening will be a good option to get refreshed. Day 2:

On the day 2nd of this beautiful trek, we will move from Bir to Palachak. Palachak is at an elevation of 2700 m. The whole journey will take about 5 to 6 hours. We will start the trek following the route that is behind The World’s Most popular Paragliding Takeoff site Billing. Across the take site, we will pass through Pine and Deodar. Moving along following a normal trail for 2-3 hours, we rich Rajgundha Valley. A few hours further into the trek, we will reach Palachak.

Day 3:

This will be one most interesting days on the trek. We will try to start the journey as early as possible. After completing a delicious breakfast, we will start the trek from Palachak to Bhadhpall. The whole journey will take around 6 to 7 hours. Overnight stay in Bhadpall campsite.

Day 4:- Trek from Bhadpall to Udeg/ Marhi via Thamsar Pass

The trek on day will take around 6 to 7 hours during which you come across many scenic views. Passing through mountains, will we cross the Thamsar Pass Lake from where we can replenish our water needs. From the top of the Thamsar Pass, we can witness the alluring views of the Bara Bhangal valley. Finally, after walking a bit more hours, we will make it to Marhi. We will stay here overnight.

Day 5:- Trek from Marhi to Bara Bhangal

On this day, we will start our trek from Marhi to Bara Bhangal. The day is going to be a little long. It is situated above the confluence of the Ravi and Kalihani nullah. Bara Bhangal, with an area of 290 square miles is located to the north of Mandi, southeast of Chamba, and south of Lahoul, you will finally make your way to Bara Bhangal. Dinner will be served and fun activities will be organized. We will stay overnight.

Day 6:- Rest Day at Bara Bhangal

This day will serve as a rest day to properly acclimatize to the conditions at this high elevation as well as to get rid of all the fatigue. You can still roam around and explore the trek with full energy the next day.

Day 7:- Trek from Bara Bhangal to Dhardi

18 km distance from Bara Bhangal to Dhardi. This is a long trek over a very strenuous and difficult terrain involving steep vertical rock cliffs great balance and patience. The trek heads down the river and enters immediately into deep gorges. Magnificent views of mountains on all sides greet the eyes. It takes about 4 to 6 hours to reach Dhardi village. There is one short tricky rock face 200 feet above the river; the rest of the trek is easy. Stay overnight here.

Day 8:- Trek from Dhardi to Nayagraon

14km distance from Dhardi to Nayagraon. One can descend along the river at an easy pace and after three or four hour’s meadows with no shady trees. The shop is in Khardu. The bridge, once washed away, has been rebuilt by the public works department providing a direct trail to Jalsu Pass. The path goes through high meadows where the river turns from south to west and again towards Bajouli Village located high above the trail and river. The trek leads down towards a steel cable bridge on the south bank, one kilometer above Nayagraon; where there is a rest house.
